Hamilton is New Zealand's largest inland city, situated in the Waikato Region of the North Island.

The beautiful Waikato River flows through the city centre, feeding the rich dairy country that surrounds it and offering some lovely riverside parks, gardens and walks. Paddleboat cruises on the river are a popular attraction for visitors, while southwest of the city, the 57ha Lake Rotoroa is good for yachting, viewing the birdlife and walking around it's shores.

The city enjoys a lively café scene, and is known for its excellent museum, which overlooks the river. Hamilton Gardens, offers an array of gardens from different cultures and is well worth a visit.

Hamilton is ideally placed to explore the region's many attractions, including the glowworm-lit caverns of the Waitomo Caves,the tourist delights of Rotorua, the craft and antique shops of Cambridge, the Kiwi House at Otorohanga and the charming seaside village of Raglan, the natural hot springs at Kawhia seaside.
